Barnes is not just Geography or History. It is not just a school, an educational institution, a mere structure. It is much more.
It is a metaphor, poetry, something invisible but very tangible. It is vibrating with the energy fields left by its Founding Fathers. Their vibration is still alive. Their impact is in the very air.
A certain perceptivity is all that one needs to receive the invisible that surrounds this mystical institution.
Situated in Devlali, one of the oldest cantonments in India, surrounded by the majestic splendor of the Sahyadri ranges, the imposing Pandulena Hill and the historic Bahula Fort, Barnes carries an air so pure and clean that it feels like for years its students and staff have opened the doors for the divine to fill the atmosphere of this institution.
I could present a glimpse of what Barnes has to offer in a nutshell – the sprawling campus, Educomp-equipped Smart Classes, well-qualified staff, fully-equipped Science & Computer Laboratories, the Basketball and Tennis Courts, state-of-the-art Swimming Pool, the impeccable hostel facilities, with caring Matrons, a fully-equipped kitchen, trained cooks under a qualified Mess Superintendent, Infirmaries with regular visits by doctors.
But then, how far can I stretch my imagination in painting Barnes?
The point is, Barnes cannot be described in any categorical terms, because Barnes is not just an institution – it is a longing, a thirst to attain education, knowledge, moral values, discipline, compassion, acceptance and love.
Our mission is to help every student be successful and be “college and career ready” by the time they graduate. It is clear that we want students to be life-long learners, creative thinkers and responsible individuals.
The four C’s of the 21st Century are Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication. Barnes has to be in the forefront of the movement to ensure that all students graduate with not just the basic skills required to be successful, but to be thoroughly prepared to successfully navigate through the next phase of their life in a career or college experience.
Here, at Barnes, our respect for each individual is absolute. Our pattern of teaching is simple – “The individual has not to fit with the pattern, the pattern has to fit with the individual.”
